Job Title: Additive/Mechanical Engineer
Location: Lexington, MA
Duration: 36 Months and 40 hours per week
*Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements to obtain a Security Clearance for access to classified information. An Active Secret Clearance without incident is desired.
Fabrication Engineering is in need of an additive/mechanical engineer to work as member of high performance teams that design, fabricate, and deliver a wide range of military and aerospace devices. This is an entry level position, in which the person will take direction from more senior engineers while supporting the fabrication of program and test hardware.
This position is needed to backfill someone who was recently promoted to Assistant Group Leader. The AGL will oversee and mentor the new hire while transitioning day-to-day additive manufacturing activities to them. This position is vital to the group in order to fulfill the growing demand for additive parts and manufacturing advice required from Laboratory programs. If we do not replace this employee, production and programs will be impacted as we will no longer be able to maintain the high level of competency that is needed in the complex field of additive manufacturing.
Position Scope/Job Functions
This position involves supporting Laboratory programs with design for manufacturing, focusing heavily on design for additive manufacturing. It also involves research and development for additive manufacturing processes, materials, and equipment in the Group, continuing to advance our capabilities and knowledge in this growing field. They will perform/oversee the pre-processing, setup, build, and post processing of additive manufacturing jobs that come through Group.
--Knowledge of additive manufacturing processes, materials, design methodology, and equipment --Passion for additive manufacturing and other advanced manufacturing techniques --Thorough understanding of basic mechanical engineering principles
--Software/applications: Solidworks CAD, Materialise Magics, MS Office --Strong teaming and communication skills --Creative and driven mindset --Motivated problem solver and fast learner
--Knowledge of all manufacturing processes (additive, subtractive, formative)
--Experience with some of the seven process families of additive manufacturing
--Experience with design for additive manufacturing --Research, development, and testing experience
--Software/applications: EOS Print, EOS PSW, Stratasys Insight and Control Center, GrabCAD, Materialise 3Matic, Altair Inspire, MatLab, Creo Direct, and GCode
--Effective and driven self-learner --Knowledge of Industry 4.0 concepts, Model Based Definition, Model Based Enterprise, Product Life Management, Industrial Internet of Things, and MT Connect
BS or BE in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Physics, or similar field
